Earlier this year, we were commissioned to design a graphic wall for a striking new building in Tokyo. The architects, Doone Silver Kerr, envisioned an exterior feature inspired by the classic willow pattern—either carved into the stone façade or crafted from cut-out bronze. Our task was to create the artwork that would be integrated into the finished building.

The initial concept drew inspiration from a William Morris willow pattern wallpaper, using its intricate organic forms as a starting point.

We explored several design iterations, refining the pattern into a more illustrative and dynamic composition. By introducing areas of negative space, we created a sense of movement and depth, enhancing its visual impact.

The final piece was crafted from precision-cut bronze sheets, adding a striking material contrast and a sense of timeless elegance to the façade.
